Homeowner pulls gun, drives off intruders
MAYVILLE—A homeowner pulled a gun on armed intruders in his Town of Chautauqua home Thursday afternoon, shot at them and chased them away, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Authorities said two men drove up to the house on Mayville-Sherman Road about 12:30 p. m. The driver went to the door and initially asked the homeowner if there was any land to rent in the area while the second man stayed near the car, deputies said.
Then, deputies said, the driver forced his way inside, pulled out a handgun and ordered the man and woman living there to lie on the floor. The homeowner, who was armed with a small caliber handgun, fired at the intruder, who then fled.
