GM upgrading plant lighting to save electricity
SPRING HILL, Tenn. — General Motors Co. has upgraded lighting at its Spring Hill, Tenn. plant and expects to save about $800,000 annually in electricity costs.The auto assembly plant — built to produce the Saturn nameplate cars — will soon be making 2013 Chevrolet Equinox crossover vehicles. The engine plant, also in Spring Hill, will make a new 2.5-liter engine for the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.
The new high-efficiency fluorescent lights are in the body shop and general assembly buildings.
