En esta ocasión, y en un momento en el que los sistemas biturbo han pasado de ser algo casi exótico, a incorporarse en muchos modelos de producción, Alpina sorprende presentando en el Salón de Frankfurt el Alpina B6 Cabrio Biturbo, donde el doble turbo se combina con el poderoso V8 de 4,4 litros que monta el descapotable de la serie 6. Los resultados hablan por si mismos y el Alpina B6 pasa de los 408 CV de serie, a unos sorprendentes 507 CV , mientras que el par motor aumenta aún en igual medida, pasando de los 600 Nm originales a un par máximo de 700 Nm entre las 3.000 y las 4.750 revoluciones.

ALPINA has “rebuilt” the 7 series to a very high standard of reliability and performance. The N63 twin-turbo V-8 engine of the 750i has been developed with completely new electronics and a computer-assembled wiring loom. The turbos are enlarged and the exhaust system has been enhanced so as to reduce back pressure. The results of ALPINA’’s work is manifest both on paper and on track. 500 hp is achieved at 5,500 rpm along with a staggering 516 lbs-ft of torque from 3,000 to 4,750 rpm. The engine produces 113.8 hp/liter on its way to a 6,550 rpm redline.
