Factory-owned Chrysler Australia Group (CAG) will from May 1 become the new distributor in New Zealand of Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles.
CAG takes over from expat Neville Crichton's Sydney-based independent Ateco Group.
The switch to the Melbourne factory subsidiary was widely expected after the Fiat Group assumed recent control of Chrysler with a 58.8 per cent stake.
Italy's biggest carmaker has moved to integrate its operations with the US Chrysler Group since it rescued it from bankruptcy with a corporate buy-out during the global financial crisis.
The change includes Fiat commercial vehicles and the high-performance Abarth brand.

Fiat's core car business—with brands including Fiat and
